I am not going to take to much of your time today, I just want to get this out there so people have an idea of what is going on with current trends of web design and maintenance.

First off I want to talk about web design pricing trends. Remember this only deals with our industry and not as the internet as a whole. This means that I have looked at companies that work mostly with the horse industry. Please be aware that the price you pay depends on the services you are receiving. The simplest of websites are offered for $500 which will give you a home page, some sale horses, a contact page with just your name, address, and email, a news page that will list some of your latest news, and maybe a couple more pages. As you get more sophisticated services, you will pay more. If you are getting a website over $1000 then you should expect to have some interaction functions put into your website.

Next comes your domain name registration. You can go to any of the domain name registration companies, do a search on Google, and find that you can register a domain name for as little as $10/year. If you are having to pay more then this you might want to request the reasons why you are having to pay more then this.

Last we have monthly maintenance. The current trends in web hosting and maintenance have the pricing structure running on average $5/month. This will vary depending on the services you are using, but for the most part you will not see the cost running over $10/month. You will have extra expenses for your maintenance, mostly billed by the hour when you have updates. So for example, if your designer bills at $60/hour and you have some new pictures and text, that usually takes 15 minutes to change, you can pro-rate this hourly charge and figure out what you will have to pay for those updates.

In conclusion, my hopes are that over time people in the Arabian horse industry, and the horse world as a whole, will come to an education level that is on par with other industries.  To see our industry represented in the best way possible should be a mission all of us have in all facets of the marketing of the Arabian horse.
